Welcome to Emmanuel

We seek to be a “grace place” congregation, a people who gather around God’s “means of grace”: Baptism, Scripture, and the Lord’s Supper and faithfully dispense them so that sinners may repent of their sins and be forgiven, faith may be nourished and strengthened, and each of us be equipped to honor God and help our neighbor in the week ahead.

We are a Lutheran congregation, affiliated with the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.

We believe in and embrace the Lutheran Confessions as a faithful exposition of what God’s Word teaches.

We believe that God desires all people to be saved and know the truth.

We believe that sinners (of which we number ourselves) are saved by grace (God’s undeserved love) through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus died for all, paying the debt that none of us could.

We believe that Jesus who died rose on the third day victorious over sin, death and the grave, as well as our adversary, the devil.

We believe that the Holy Spirit brings us to and keeps us in saving faith through God’s Word, Holy Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

We believe that through His church God equips and empowers believers to serve Him by serving others and sharing the good news about Jesus.

We would love to graciously welcome you to Emmanuel so that you may experience God’s grace alongside of us, whether it is for a Sunday morning service or an event or activity.

Vacation Bible School

Emmanuel Lutheran Church holds Vacation Bible School for one week each summer. It is one of the biggest Bible School programs in the town of York.

We typically have 130 children attend daily, and need 20 to 30 volunteers to run the program. We offer this program to all children ages 4 thru the 5th grade in the York community at no charge. We have a lot of children attend Vacation Bible School that are not from the Emmanuel congregation, and feel it is our mission to offer the opportunity for all children to come and hear about the word of God in a fun and creative atmosphere.

The three hour day is filled with singing, bible study, crafts, snacks and recreation time all centered around a religious theme. We collect an offering each day and set a weekly goal for the children to meet. The offering has been used towards many different missions including the Crisis Pregnancy Center here in York, sponsoring a mission trip to Honduras, and the farming program through Samaritan's Purse.
